Linlithgow – Belsyde House Full Restoration
Full sash window restoration at the historic Belsyde House & Farm, Linlithgow — concealed draught proofing, crown glass, antique brass ironmongery.
About This Project
Belsyde House & Farm is a beautiful country property forming a diversified farming unit, set in a picturesque location with elevated views across the surrounding countryside. Belsyde House is steeped in history, being the former residence of Colonel Islay Ferrier. The property displays the Hamilton Coat of Arms on the west gable end, dating back to the original owner Colonel Ferrier's wife's family.
EW&D have tastefully restored the traditional windows in the property. We added concealed draught proofing, increasing the thermal efficiency of the windows.
There were a number of broken panes that have been replaced with traditional crown glass, keeping the windows with the same historic look. The windows were fully stripped of paint and repairs were completed with Repair Care resin products. The ironmongery was replaced as it was beyond reasonable repair — the customer opted for antique brass.
The windows were also fully re-painted, re-weighted and brought back to full working order.
