From Washington to Scotland: A Presidential Seal of Trust
We’re thrilled to share an incredible highlight from our journey at Edinburgh Windows and Doors — a project that was as exciting as it was top secret (until now)! Our team recently had the honour of installing and later removing ballistic glass at not one, but two iconic Scottish locations: Trump Turnberry and MacLeod House, in preparation for the visit of the President of the United States.
Yes, the President of America.
This high-security project was part of the U.S. Government’s advanced logistical planning for a presidential visit, and we were privileged to be trusted with such a critical task. Our work involved the precision fitting and secure removal of specialised government-owned ballistic glass, used to safeguard one of the most protected individuals on the planet.
Been There, Done That… Twice… Three times actually
This wasn’t our first rodeo, either. A few years ago, we had the same honour when President Joe Biden visited the stunning Dalmahoy Hotel and Country Club in 2021. Back then, our role was equally vital — working discreetly and professionally to meet the highest standards of safety, confidentiality, and quality. At that time our two Managing Director’s along with Mr MD’s dad, completed the work on their own lifting 12 units weighing 125kg each into place. Needless to say, lessons were learned, chiropractors were employed and we took the EWD team on a field trip recently to help install the next lot.

Handling presidential-grade security installations isn't something many companies can say they've done — let alone three times. This experience was a real testament to the skill, precision, and reliability of our team here at Edinburgh Windows and Doors, even if we did witness a few shaky legs under the weight.
